Alpana Vajpeyi

Alpana Vajpeyi is a notable representative of the Raigarh gharana among dancers of the present generation. She was trained by the renowned master Karthik Ram and his son Ramlal at the Chakradhar Nritya Kendra, Bhopal. As a dance student she received a scholarship from the government of Madhya Pradesh and a fellowship from the Ustad Allauddin Khan Sangeet Akademi, Bhopal.

A dancer of refined sensibility particularly proficient in abhinaya, she has been featured in festivals organized by leading organizations including Bharat Bhavan, Kathak Kendra and Sangeet Natak Akademi. She has been teaching Kathak at the Chakradhar Nritya Kendra, Bhopal, for some years and has received a research fellowship from the Department of Culture, Governmetn of India.
