Anuradha Jonnalgadda

A noted Kuchipudi dancer of the younger generation, Anuradha Jonnalgadda is a product of the Kuchipudi Art Academy, Hyderabad, where she received training from Sobha Naidu. Later she learnt under Guru Vempati Chinna Satyam and obtained Master’s degree in performing arts from the Central university of Hyderabad. Subsequently she joined the dance faculty of the Sarojini Naidu School of Performing Arts, affiliated to the University. She has recently been awarded a Ph.D for her thesis on “Tradition and innovation in Kuchipudi Dance”.

Anuradha Jonnalgadda has won acclaim as a dancer in Andhra Pradesh and has also been featured in festivals organized by bharat bhavan, Madhya Pradesh Kala Parishad, National Centre for Performing Arts and Sangeet Natak Akademi. She has published a book, Kuchipudi Dance: who is who.

Working as a reader in the Department of Dance at the Golden Threshold of Central University, Anuradha is keenly interested in pursuing research and practice. Imbibing the stylized mode of Kuchipudi under the legendary maestro Vempati Chinna Satyam, Anuradha specialized in the 'evolution of the Kuchipudi dance technique in the last century'. Her research focuses on "Tradition and innovation in Kuchipudi dance" based on the historical evolution of the art form in the context of the changing socio-political scenario. Apart from being a solo performer, Anuradha is the founder of the dance school "Nrityaankita".
