Hari Prasad Chaurasia

 
Hari Prasad Chaurasia was born in 1938 in Allahabad and was trained in music under Professor Rajaram, Pandit Bholanath and Annapurna Devi, disciple and daughter of Ustad Allauddin Khan. He has evolved through constant research a new style in flute-playing which has established him as one of the foremost musicians in the country.

He has also made a mark as an outstanding composer. He has several discs to his credit and has also composed music for films. Hari Prasad Chaurasia was honoured with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Hindustani instrumental music in 1983.
