Smt.Jayanthi Subramaniam is something more that a talented danseuse she is a connoisseur’s delight.

One of the senior most disciples of Padmashri Adyar Shri.K.Lakshman, Smt.Jayanthi Subramaniam thoroughly imbibed from her illustrious guru a brilliant and chaste style. She learnt the nuances of Abhinaya from the veteran Padma Bhushan Smt.Kalanidi Narayanan and the intricacies of nattuvangam from Bhagavatulu Seetharama Sharma.

As a senior performing artist she participated in prestigious dance festivals organized by leading Sabas in and outside Chennai. She is the recipient of the Best Guru Award for 1998 for the VDS Arts academy, Outstanding Senior Dancer Award for 2000 from the Naradha Gana Sabha, Best Guru Award for 2001 from the Indian Fine Arts Society, the Padma Sadhana Award for 2003 from the Padma Sarangapani Cultural Academy, Sathya Acharya Sundaram from Bharatanjali Trust, the Samaikya Bharat Swarna Puraskar for 2005 from the Madras Telugu Academy and the Kalaimamani award for 2004 from the Tamil Nadu State Government.

She has conducted workshops in several cities in India as well as the USA, Malaysia and Singapore. An empanelled artist of the ICCR and grade ‘A’ artist of Doordarshan, she is currently the Vice President of Association of Bharathanatyam Artistes Of India (ABHAI).

Endowed with a rich experience of over three decades Smt.Jayanthi Subramaniam is today recognized as a senior artist, an able teacher and an excellent choreographer.
