M.S.Gopalakrishnan
Born
in 1931, M.S.Gopalakrishnan was instructed in music by his father Parur
Sundarm Iyer, a distinguished violinist and teacher. M.S.Gopalakrishnan
performs both Carnatic and Hindustani music with equal facility and
mastery.
Over
a concert career of nearly fifty years he has given innumerable solo
recitals all over the country and abroad. He was conferred the Padma
Shri in 1975, the Kalaimamani in 1978, and the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka
Akademi Award in 1980. He received the Sangeet Nataka Akademi Award
for Carnatic instrumental music in 1982.
