Mani Krishnaswami

 

Born in 1930, in Madras, Mani Krishnaswami received her training in Carnatic vocal music at Kalakshetra, Madras, under the eminent vocalists Tiger Varadachariar, Budalur Krishnamurti Sastrigal, and Mysore Vasudevacharyar. She was later a student of musiri Subramanya Iyer and T.K.Jayarama Iyer. Known for her large repertoire of compositions in various languages, ragamalikas and pallavis, Mani Krishnaswami has had a successful concert career. She is also a popular broadcaster. She received the sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1987.
