Maulik Shah & Ishira Parikh

At the forefront of the new generation of Kathak Dancers, Maulik Shah and Ishira Parikh are disciples of the renowned Kathak teacher and choreographer Kumudini Lakhia. They have absorbed the sense of perfection and controlled exuberance of their guru and grown into accomplished soloists. Their complementary skills and mutual understanding have made for excellent joint performances. Lead artists of the Kadamb group for many years, they have also created experimental works such as nar-Nari. Maulik Shah has taught dance at the Kadamb Centre.

The couple have participated in many prestigious dance events including the Khajuraho Festival, the East-West Dance encounter at NCPA, the Konark Fesitval, Kalka bindadin Kathak Mahotsava and Sangeet Natak Akademi’s yuva Utsav. Currently they run their own institution in ahmedabad, teaching dance and producing new works in pursuit of their chosen art.
