Ram Mohan

Born in the first family of Kathak dancers of the Lucknow gharana, Ram Mohan is the youngest son of the great Kathak Guru Shambhu Maharaj and a leading dancer of his generation.

As a child he received his early training from his illustrious father, and later from his cousin Birju Maharaj. He has performed widely in prestigious dance events in all major cities of India, and has taken several concert tours abroad.

Formerly a senior member of the Kathak Kendra’s Production Unit, Ram Mohan has taken lead roles in various dance-dramas produced by the institution. He has also choreographed many Kathak productions in India and abroad. He has taught Kathak at Kathak Kendra, Lucknow and the Indian cultural Centre, Surinam, and is currently a guru at Shriram bharatiya Kala Kendra, Delhi.
