Shoba Gurtu

Shoba gurtu received her initial training inHindustani vocal music from her mother Menakabai Shirodkar of the Jaipur-Atrauli gharana. She later received advanced training from Ustads Natthan Khan and Ghamman Khan as well as Narayan Nath gurtu. Well known as an exponent of light classical music, she has a wide repertoire of Thumri, Tappa and Dadra compositions, as also Ghazals and bhajans.

Shobha gurtu received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1987.
