Shovana Narayan
A
leading Kathak dancer, Shovana Narayan was trained in the art by Guru
Birju Maharaj and Guru Kundanlal Gangani at Kathak Kendra, Delhi.
She established herself in the field during the 1970s and, over the last 20 years, she has performed extensively. She has a strong urge for experimentation and has produced choreographic works on contemporaty themes. She has collaborated with experts in other disciplines in search of innovation. Shovana narayan has been featured in many national and international festivals including the Festival of India in USSR. She has also danced a duet with ballerina Andrea Campianu at the Vienna Festival.
She has been honoured with Padma Shri for her work in dance.
