T.V.Sankaranarayanan

Born in 1945 in the village of Mayiladuthurai, Tamil Nadu, Tiruvalangadu V.Sankaranarayanan received his training in Carnatic vocal music from his uncle Madurai Mani Iyer and from his parents T.S.Vembu Iyer and Gomathi Vembu Iyer.

He made his debut on the concert platform in 1968 and then gradually established himself as a Carnatic vocalist. His chaste, traditional style has won him a large following among discerning listeners. He has performed widely at home and abroad and has several cassettes to his credit.

T.V.Sakaranarayanan received the Sangeet natak Akademi Award for Carnatic vocal music in 1990.
