Amrit N was born in 1977. His father Shri. Basavanagudi Sri.G.Nataraj is a Violinist. His Gurus were Vidwan Sri M.Vasudeva Rao, Vidwan Sri A.V.Anand and Late. Vidwan Sri G.Harishankar (Chennai). He started learning Mridangam under the tutelage of Vidwan Sri M.Vasudeva Rao in 1983 at the age of five. Currently pursuing Mridangam Training under Vidwan Sri A.V. Anand. He had Khanjira training under "Khanjira Maestro" Late. Vidwan Sri G.Harishankar at Chennai. Has also learnt violin under his father Vidwan Basavanagudi Sri G. Nataraj. Amrit
Started performing since 1986 and has been accompanying all senior musicians
of the country. An ‘A’ Grade artist in AIR for Khanjira
and ‘B – High’ Grade in AIR for Mridangam, Amrit has
given performances in AIR and Doordarshan and also featured in many
National Level Festivals, Percussion Ensembles, Lecture Demonstrations,
Fusion Concerts, AudioCassettes and CDs. He has performed at prestigious
sabhas all over India. A Bachelor of Science (PCM), Amrit is a full
time Percussionist. Recipient of Karnataka State Scholarship for consecutive 3 years. Secured I Prize along with ‘B’ Grade in the AIR National Level Competition for Khanjira, in the year 1997. Secured II Prize along with ‘B’ Grade in the AIR National Level Competition for Mridangam, in the year 1996. Secured I Prize for Mridangam, in the National Level Competition conducted by south central Cultural Zone (Nagpur), in the year 1996. Awards
& Titles Awarded with the “ANANYA YUVA PURASKARA”, annual youth award for the year 2003 for excellence in the field of Khanjira , by Ananya GML Cultural Academy. Awarded with the “CMANA PRIZE - 2004”, instigated by Carnatic Music Association of North America, for eminent Young Professional artists, given by the Percussive Arts Centre Bangalore. Awarded as “SALLARI GANA LAYA VITTHGAR” by Sri Ramani Guruji of Sri Ganapathi Temple (Chennai). Performances Performed in the Fusion Concert Directed and performed by Sri Karaikudi Mani, for Tsunami Victims, February 2004. Performed in the Percussion Ensemble of Sri Thiruvarur Bhakthsavatsalam, “Laya Madhura”. Performed in the Fusion Concerts with Sri Ganesh and Sri Kumaresh. Performed in The Trinity Music Ferstival conducted by All India Radio held in Delhi, March 2003. Performed in the AIR Sangeetha Sammelan’s Golden Jubilee Year Concert held in Calcutta, October 2004. Performed in prestigious “VASANTHA HABBA” conducted by Nrithya Gram, Hesarghatta. Performed in the
“BANGALORE HABBA”, The festival of Bangalore. |
