Deepti Omchery Bhalla

 
A well known Mohiniattam dancer, Deepti Omchery Bhalla initially trained in Kathakali at the International Centre for Kathakali, Delhi. Her gurus in Kathakali are P.Madhava Panikker, gopinath K.Kumara nair and Sadanam Balakrishnan. She later received training in mohiniattam from the renowned guru Kalyanikutty Amma. She was also a student at the Faculty of music and Fine Arts, Delhi university, where she learnt Hindustani and Carnatic music under eminent teachers including T.S.Raghavan, Yunus Hussain Khan and the Dagar brothers. Subsequently she joind the faculty and is now a Reader in music.

Deepti Omchery bhalla has performed widely, participating in major dance festivals in India and abroad. She has performed in the Festival of India in USSR. She has published several research papers and has recently obtained her Ph.D in music from Delhi university.
