T.T.Raman Kutty Nair

Shri.T.T.Ramankutty Nair was bron in 1925. He received training in Kathakali Vesham from the great master of Kathakali, Pattikamtody Ramunni Menon.

Among the foremost masters of Kathakali, Shri Ramankutty Nair has vast performing and teaching experience. He excels in the role of Hanuman and Parashuram and is also known for his mastery over the roles of Ravana, Keechaka, Duryodhana and the Tadi characters. Apart from his extensive work on the traditional Kathakali stage Shri Ramankutty Nair has also experimented with choreography for new themes.

Shri Ramankutty nair’s association with Kerala Kalamandalam began as a student at the institution. He rose to be the Principal of Kerala Kalamandalam began as a student at the institution. He rose to be the Principal of Kerala Kalamandalam. During his tenure he trained a number of students.

Shri Nair has travelled and performed in different parts of the world. He has appeared in several documentaries on Kathakali. A recipient of many honours and titles, Shri Ramnkutty Nair received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1974.
