Kottakkal Nanda Kumaran Nair

Kottakkal Nanda Kumaran Nair was born in 1945 in Desamangalam, Kerala. He has been trained Kathakali Acting under Guru Shri.Kottakkal Krishan Kutty Nair from PSV Natya Sangham, Kottakal since 1963. He has also been trained in Ottamthullal under Guru Shri.Kalamandalam Divakaran Nair and Shri.Malabar Kannan Nair from Kerala Kalamandalam, Cheruthuruthy, Kerala.

He is a senior Kathakali Artist and has extensively traveled abroad and has given several performances and workshops in Brasil, Paris, Sweden, Lublin, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Beijing, Suzhow, Hangzow, Shanghai, China and Pyong Yang, North Korea, various stages in Indonesia and all states in Malaysia and Singapore.

‘Nandan’ as he is affectionately called by his friends, is a full time Kathakali Artist and is currently imparting training to students. He is teaching Kathakali in PSV Natyasangam, Kottakkal. He has presented innumerable performances throughout India, and conducted number of workshops especially in Kerala.

As an Independent Kathakali Actor, he has performed ‘Ravanodbhavam’ in 2001, a new formation by using Mizhivu and Worked with Annet Leday, Keli Association, Paris in ‘King Lear’ (1992).
