Born in a family of musicians,
Lakshmi Kommineni is an exponent of both Vazuvoorar and Kalakshetra
style of Bharatanatyam and also in Carnatic vocal music. Her guru Ms.Chandra
Parthasarathy is a direct disciple of Mylapore Gowri Amma for padams
and Javali, Vazuvoor Kuppaiya Pillai and Ramaiya Pillai for Nritta.
Lakshmi started learning to dance under the close supervision of her
gifted guru and gave her first performance at the age of eight. She
also learnt Bharatanatyam under the guidance of Smt.Jayalakshmi Arunachalam
and Smt.Chandra Dandayudapani Pillai and Kathak under the guidance of
Sri.Munnalal Shukla, Kathak Kendra. Since then she has been performing
continuously and has extensively performed at home and abroad.
Lakshmi Kommineni also learnt Carnatic Vocal from Vidhushi Smt.Vedavalli,
Smt.Rukmani Ramani, Sri Krishnamoorthy and Shri.Tarapuram Sundarajan
at Madras Music College. Subsequently she had her intermediate training
in vocal from Smt.Janaki Ramasuban, New Delhi and advanced training
from Nanganallur Ramanathan.
Lakshmi Kommineni is a Dancer,Teacher,Choreographer & a Nattuvanar.
She is the founder of CHANDRA GOWRI NATYALAYA which was established
in 2001 to honor her guru, Mrs.Chandra Parthasarathy, and her guru’s
guru, the late Great Gowri Amma. The school takes its name from her
Guru’s 54 year old school Gowri Natyalaya in Delhi, India .
Lakshmi Kommineni has won the prestigious Tamil Nadu Government award
“and the tytle "NATYA VISHARADHA".”

Choreographed and presented both solo thematic
and dance drama works in Bharatanatyam. To name a few, Arunachala Kavirayar's
Ramayanam, Maadhava Madhusudhana, Bhavayami Raghuramam, and Andal Kalyanam.
