Maharajapuram S.Ganesh Viswanathan

Maharajapuram S.Ganesh Viswanathan, hails from a musical family, his ancestors being the stalwarts in the field of music. He is the great grandson of Sangeetha Bhoopathi Late Sri Maharajapuram Viswantha Iyer, grandson of Sri Maharajapuram Santhanam and son of Sri Maharajapuram Srinivasan. He is fortunate to have been born in the family of eminent musicians and in the direct Sishya parampara of Saint Thyagaraja.

He was initiated into music when he was barely out of the cradle, his first guru being his grandfather the legendary Maharajapuram Santhanam himself.

At the age of 6, he started singing the prayers at public functions and was appreciated by many a senior Vidwan. He participated in numerous competitions and has won many prizes. To name a few – 1st prize in the music competitions held by Sri Thyaga Brahma Gana Sabha, Indian Fine Arts .Raga Tharangini,YACM etc. He has participated in inter school competitions and has won several prizes. He has also sung a playback track for K.Balachander’s Jannal-a Teleserial.

He has been accompanying his father in his music concerts in India as well as abroad and has given solo music concerts in Vijay T.V,Bharathi TV and has participated in television programmes and talk shows. He has also given a solo recital in ANNA F.M radio channel.

His greatest achievement and the red letter day of his life was when he gave a solo performance at the Thyagaraja Aradhana in Thiruvayuru. That was his maiden concert. He has the blessings of Pujyasri Dayananda Saraswathi and Kanchi Jagadguru before whom he has sung.

He has been selected by the TAMILNADU IYAL IASI NATAKAMANDRAM and has performed his solo concerts at Madurai, Tirunelveli, Gobichettypalayam and other places under the junior talent promotion programmes.
