Melakkaveri K.Thiagarajan

Melakkaveri K.Thiagarajan was born in 1972. He had initial training in Violin and Vocal Music under the tutelege of Dr.(Ms).R.Karpagam. Afterwards he was trained by Violin Vidwan (Late) Ramanathapuram Sri Venkatachalam Iyer in vocal and violin. After his demise joined Sri V.L. Kumar, a Veteran Violin player and further intensified / advanced his training in Violin accompaniment and still continuing under him.

He is a professional Violin Player in Carnatic Music for the last 10 years, and have accompanied number of Vidwans / Vidushis and leading artistes of Carnatic Music in India. He is regularly playing Violin in the December Music Season in most of the Sabhas in Chennai.

A B-High grade Violin artiste of AIR, Melakkaveri K.Thiagarajan regularly performing solo / violin accompaniment to concerts both in A.I.R. and Doordarshan Kendra of Madras.

He had Visited Thailand (Bangkok) in 1994-95 as Violin accompaniment in a Cultural troupe. In October 1998, he visited U.K. for concerts along with Mrs. Nityasree Mahadevan. In April 1999, again with Mrs. Niryasree Mahadevan visited Sri Lanka for concerts. In February 2000, visited Gulf countries such as Dubai and Abudabi for music concerts with veteran musician Smt.Geetha Rajasekaran.

As a Violin student, he was selected as the best violinist and awarded the memento for the same by the Mylapore Fine Arts Club Madras, in their December music festival.

Awarded the special prize for the Best Violinist youngster for Violin accompaniment by Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, Madras during their December Music concerts.

One among the approved best violin accompanists of the Tamil Nadu Eyal Isai Nataka Sangam, Madras.

Awarded the title “Nadha Isai Selvar” by a Musical Institution of Madras in their anniversary celebrations on 1.5.1993.

Awarded the title ‘Yuva Kala Bharathi” by Bharath Kalachar in the year 2002.
