Sahana Ramachandra

Sahana Ramachandra was born in 1984. She has been trained by Vidwan Sri. Shivakumar of Tumkur and presently the disciple of Ganakalabhushana Vidwan Sri. R.K.Padmanabha. She has secured third place for the State(distinction) in Vidwath exam and 1st Class in Gamaka Examinations conducted by Secondary Education Board, Karnataka.

Awards & Scholarships

Awarded Scholarship in Junior and Senior music by Karnataka Sangeetha Nritya Academy, Govt. of Karnataka.

Awarded Prathibha Puraskar by Vani Vidya Kendra, Best singer and best student award by Vijaya Institution, Bangalore.

Given concerts in association with Kannada & Culture & Tanjore – Govt. of Chennai.

Has won 1st prize in All India Music Competition conducted by Navya Natakasamithi at Hyderabad (National Award).

Won the All India Radio Music Competition and has been selected as the ’B’ grade artist both in Karnatic Classical and Devaranama (National Award).

Has won 1st prize in the competition conducted by Sangam Kala Group, Delhi and has been awarded the best performer of the year 2004 (National Award).

Given programme in Naada (Udaya TV) and in other TV Channels.

Has anchored many programmes in ETV Kannada Channel. Presently acting in a serial on Doordarshan channel (Parampare).

Won S.Ananthanarayana award for best performance for both academic and cultural activities at Degree level.

She has performed concerts in almost all sabhas in Karnataka and also in Trichy, Hyderabad, Trivandrum, Kolkatta and Mumbai.

Sahana has several audio cassettes released to her credit - Prarthana (Classical) and Vandana (Devotional), Lalitha Sahasranama, Raga-Tana-Pallavi Parampara and Samarpana, Narsimha Suprabhata etc.,

She has secured over 250 prizes in classical and light music. She has also acted in Dramas under the direction of Smt. Geetha Ramanujam and Sri. R.K.Padmanabha. The achievements have been published in Kannada Weekly magazines like Sudha, Taranga Karmaveer, Gruhashoba and reputed dailies like Deccan Herald, Prajavani, Vijaya Karnataka, Udayavani Kannada Prabha, JNR today and Vasundhara (Telugu).

Sahana Ramachandra is currently doing M.S. in Communication in the Central College, Bangalore University. She is an active member of the youth wing of Karnataka Gana Kala Parishat.
