Sailaja Sivakumar

Sailaja, is one of the upcoming artist and a rare exponent who can perform both Bharatnatyam & Mohini Attam Classical Art forms.

She started her dance career at the tender age of 6.

She started learning Bharathanatyam from Guru Smt.Padma (Disciple of great guru Dandayuthapani Pillai) where she learnt for 8 years.

Then she moved on to learn advance course on Bharathanatyam choreography, nattuvangam & aspects of Tala under the guidance of Guru:- Shri. S.Shivakumar.

She married her guru Sri.Shivakumar & now teaching along with him in their Institution 'Shivakalalayam'.

Then learnt the classical art form MohiniAttam from guru Smt. Maya Vinayan for 7 years. Now doing advance course in Mohiniattam from guru Smt.Gopika Verma.

Aug - Nov 03, Toured U.S. along with cine actress cum dancer Ms.Shobana for performing her ballet through out U.S.

Toured U.S. from Aug - Nov 04 for performing dance ballet called 'Gajamukha', organised by Natya company in U.S. Also conducted workshops during the tour.

Performed solo programmes in Prestigious Sabhas like V.D.S.Arts academy, "Naradha gana sabha" & Bharathiya Vidha Bhavan, Chennai.

Toured all over india with cine fame dancer Ms.Shobana for many of her ballets & programs.

"Mamallapuram Dance festival" organized by Tamilnadu Govt.

As a member of ABHAI she performed in many annual day celebrations of Abhai.

She had Won the first round & Semi final in Jaya T.V's 'Takadhimi Tha' program.

Performed at Sri krishna gana sabha in the " AINTHINAI" dance ballet, produced by Shri.M.V.Narasimhachari during the dec- 04 season program.

Performed for Guru. Madurai. R.Muralidharan's dance ballets like,
"Kamba Ramayana", " Thulukka Nachiar", "Nammalzvaar", "Thirumangai Alwar" & "Kuraloviyam'.

Performed in "shri Ragavendrar" , "Shri Ramanujar" & "Akilam Kakkum Annai" dance drama production by Guru Smt. Hemarajan's Nrithyopasana.

Performed in "Kalinga Narthanam", "Bharatham Jananam Gnanam", "Dasa Avatharam" & "Ashtaruchi" dance drama produced by Sri.Narendra Kumar's Anusham group.
