R.Srinivasan hail from
a family of musicians. His grand mother, late Smt. Kalyani Varadarajan
(retd. Staff artist-AIR, Mumbai) was a great vainika, violinist and
a composer of carnatic music in Telugu, Sanskrit and Tamil. He has grown
up with the sound of music. His parents used to play recordings of both
carnatic and Hindustani music, which gave him great exposure to the
classical music, since the age of 4, and he developed a taste for it.
He started learning mridangam at the age of 11, and at the age of 13,
received the C.C.R.T scholarship. GURUS: Sri V.Chandrasekaran Scholarships, Awards/Prizes and concerts 1. Scholarship from Centre for cultural resources and training from 1988-1996. 2. Navya Nataka Samiti Prize won three years consecutively 1995,1996 and 1997. 3. Sahitya kala Parishad Yuva Mahotsav prize won in the year 1996. 4. Sahitya kala Parishad senior scholarship received 1996. 5. Concerts given in various organizations in Delhi and Chennai 6. Also performed in the United States of America and Canada. 7. Lecture demonstrations given in various universities in USA and Canada and also interviewed for the national American radio. 8. Accompanied Sh.K.N.Sashikiran (vocal) for the San Fransisco television. 9. Accompanied Ms.Anuradha Sridhar (violin solo) in the University of Dallas, Texas. 10. Other artists include Sh.Sanjay Subramaniam, Smt.Padma Narayanaswamy (w/o Late Sh. K.V.Narayanaswamy), Smt.Latha Ramchand, Sh.N.Ravikiran (Gottuvadyam), Smt.Vanaja Arvamudhan (Gottuvadhyam), Madurai Sh.S.Sundar, Dr.N.Rajam & Ms.Sangeeta Shankar (violin Jugalbandhi), Smt.saraswati Rajagopalan & Sh. Saeed Zafar Khan (veena, sitar jugalbandhi) to name a few. 11. Performed on the mridangam and kanjeera with the fusion group “INDIAN STRINGS” featuring Pandit Mukesh Sharma (sarod), Ms.Anupriya Deotale (Violin Hindustani) Sh.Raghavendra (Mandolin, Carnatic) and Sh. Rafiuddin Sabri (Tabla). |
